It is the distance between the working face of the magnet and the part with which it is interacting. Often air, but inclusive of other materials such as coating layer thickness on magnet. If the air gap is enlarged, the interacted strength will be weakened.
1. It is dangerous to place a magnet or its assembly close to a person who wears a pacemaker or has been embedded with other electrical medical devices inside body.
2. Do not swallow magnets and keep magnets out of children¨s reach.
3. The person who handling magnetized magnet or assemblies is requested to wear safety glasses and protective gloves to avoid skin pinch and other injuries.
4. Sintered magnets are very brittle and easily shattered into many sharp fragments upon impact.
5. People who are allergic to metallic substances are requested with sufficient protection when they are going to contact magnets.
6. Barium contained magnets are not recommended to be used for food and other industries because of possible dissolution of barium under some conditions.
7. The file and data what are stored in credit card, hard disk drive and other magnetic recording carriers will be damaged if they are close to magnetized magnet or assembly.
8. Do not place magnetized magnet and assembly near electronic products and mechanic equipment unless they are shielded. They could adversely affect instruments and control circuits.
9. Magnet can release sparks on impact. It is prohibited to handle magnets or its assembly in a potentially explosive environment.
10. Machining rare earth magnet will release great energy. It could ignite the flammable rare earth magnet powder if the process is not cooled with plenty of water.
11. Magnetic force could be weakened even entirely lost if it is overheated or exposed to radioactive rays.
12. Storing and using magnet under dry conditions and free from corrosive gas, hydrogen environments, acid, alkaline or organic solutions to avoid changes on surface condition, physical properties and magnetic properties.
13. If AlNiCo magnet are supplied in magnetized condition, attention should be given to avoid irreversible force loss effected by adverse field because of its low coercive force
14. For magnetized products being transported by air, they should be shielded to meet the safety standard of IATA.
